A few words about me
Maria Guinea
Yoga Therapist. Yoga Teacher
I've journeyed through my professional life navigating various roles - from being a dedicated small animal veterinarian and professor to exploring the depths of cancer research. It was during this research journey that life took me by surprise, as I found myself battling cancer firsthand.
Thankfully, my encounter with cancer, although challenging, was a short trip. While my body weathered the storm relatively unharmed, it was my mind that underwent a profound transformation. It was during this period of introspection that I discovered the transformative power of Yoga.
Years of teaching and practicing Yoga eventually led me to pursue formal training as a Yoga Therapist and Meditation Mentor under the guidance of Brandt Passalacqua. His mentorship became my compass as I explored deeper into the Yoga-based models that supports holistic healing.
Originally hailing from Argentina, I lived in the community of Charleston, SC, for 20 years. I offer personalized one-on-one Yoga Therapy sessions. Additionally, I tailor classes for small groups, like senior citizens, at various locations across the city, including BLRC (City of Charleston), and the Mount Pleasant Senior Center.
As both a Yoga Therapist and a cancer survivor, I firmly believe in the transformative potential of enhancing mental-physical connection. My approach to healing emphasizes the acquisition of skills to reframe the orientation of the mind. Even when the illness may have physical origins, sometimes we need to access other dimensions of our being to facilitate profound healing.
